Civil engineers play a vital role in creating the built environment and in protecting the natural environment. They bring together science and art to create much of the tangible fabric of today’s society. Graduates of the civil engineering program may work as construction, environmental, geotechnical, hydraulic, structural, transportation or water resource engineers.The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering emphasizes a balance of teaching and research in forefront areas of modern Civil and Environmental engineering.The CEE department has two tracks for the PhD program. One track is the MS – PhD track where the applicants already have an MS degree. An alternative is the BS – PhD track where exceptionally-qualified applicants who are well prepared may enter the Ph.D. program with only a BS degree.
