Majoring in political science is perfect preparation for working with governments or nonprofits, going to law school, joining a campaign, or running for office yourself. Learn about ideas that shape American and international politics and all the ways you can put them to work. You’ll start with foundational courses in American government, political science methods, international relations, and comparative politics that introduce major ideas, issues, and systems. From there, you’ll select courses in political theory, public administration, and public policy.Upper-level electives dive deeper into American political behavior and institutions, international relations, and comparative politics. You might also choose additional coursework to study American constitutional law, national security, race and politics, or political systems from regions around the world.
