Sainsbury Research Unit Bursary in the Arts of Africa, Oceania and the Americas

The Sainsbury Research Unit is offering bursaries to help both home and international students to study on the MA in The Arts of Africa, Oceania and the Americas.

Each bursary includes:

• A maintenance grant of £5,000 to support students with living costs while enrolled on the MA.
• An additional £650 for travel costs related to MA, including museum visits

Further Criteria

To be considered for this bursary you must be in receipt of an offer of a place, by UEA, on the MA in The Arts of Africa, Oceania and the Americas, for the academic year 2027/28.

This bursary is open to both home and international students. The bursaries are awarded following the admissions interview and will be allocated based on academic excellence and financial need.

We encourage you to apply for the MA course ahead of 31 January 2027 as there are a limited number of awards available. Later applicants will still be considered for bursaries, although these are limited.

This bursary is designed to ensure that financial circumstances do not prevent talented applicants from pursuing the MA.

Restrictions with other Scholarships

Students receiving sponsorship covering maintenance by an outside body or government organization are not eligible for this bursary. Government or educational loans that require repayment do not affect eligibility. Please note that students awarded an SRU Bursary can still apply for UEA fee reduction Scholarships.
