University of Missouri - Kansas City

The University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) opened its doors as the University of Kansas City in 1933. A thriving, unique university today, UMKC is spread across two campuses and is a place that thousands of students from over 85 countries call their home away from home. The university’s mission is to promote learning through the discovery, preservation, and dissemination of knowledge of public value across a wide array of disciplines. Professors at UMKC bring their expertise and their professional connections to students, giving them hands-on experience and networking opportunities. Small class sizes create opportunities for more rewarding mentorship. Students also get involved in research and community service, which helps them get a head-start in putting together their portfolios. Over 300 campus organizations offer students plenty of opportunities to get involved with life on campus, outside of the classroom.
