Bachelor Degrees prepare students to develop broad and coherent knowledge and skills in a discipline for professional work and further learning corresponding to AQF level 7 qualifications. The honours component prepares students to develop advanced knowledge and skills for professional work, research and further learning corresponding to AQF level 8 qualifications. This is an intercalated course designed to enable Curtin Medical School (CMS) Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) students gain experience of research and to achieve an AQF level 8 qualification. This will enable students to be eligible to progress to a higher degree by research through the PhD pathway. This is a stepping stone for medical students to pursue a clinician scientist pathway, post-internship. Students will develop critical thinking skills and application to their field of research. Independent and supervisor guided learning relevant to the research project will enable students to develop subject specific knowledge and research skills. Students will work with a supervisor to develop their research protocol and complete their research activities and data collection, analyse their results and write up the research.justify a research approach using epidemiological, sociological, health services research or biomedical principles and conceptsdesign solutions or strategies for problems identified within a field of researchcommunicate research findings to a variety of audiences such as experts in the field and communitiesdemonstrate national and international research standards relevant to the research process and ethical reasoningdemonstrate knowledge of issues related to cultural safety and equity in relation to the research process and research outcomesinterpret findings of research within the context of quality of patient care or healthy communitiesdemonstrate proficiency in conducting an ethical approach to clinical research
