Gain comprehensive expertise in public health services, health data, planning, research and management in population-level physical and mental health. This is a multidisciplinary course that will give you the expertise for diverse careers in public health. You will learn how to contribute to the prevention of disease and disabilities, and learn techniques to promote wellbeing at the community and population level. You'll study how psychosocial and environmental factors affect health and wellbeing, and learn about public health and healthcare systems. You’ll then apply your analytical and planning skills to create evidence-based approaches that align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. In your third year, you can study either the Health Data or Health Sciences specialisation, or complete the Accelerated Bachelor Master pathway. Graduates can apply for membership of the Public Health Association of Australia, the Health Services Research Association of Australia & New Zealand, and the Australasian Epidemiological Association. Develop real-world experience before you graduate. Learn how work-integrated learning helps you build career skills and connect with industry early.The rise in digital technology and the increase in data make this an exciting time for public health and related health disciplines. This specialisation will teach you how to analyse big data to reveal health patterns and trends, such as the impacts of climate change on health. You’ll learn about data capture, data visualisation and cybersecurity, and explore how artificial intelligence and machine learning are being applied in health. You’ll also build interpretive and decision-making skills, and learn how to present results to diverse audiences – including clinicians, health professionals and the public. This specialisation can lead to roles such as health data analyst, data management officer, community development officer and researcher.
