China is a key global player with enormous influence. Australia has many links to China economically, culturally, socially and increasingly, politically. If you’re interested in understanding China and its role in the world, the Master of Contemporary Chinese Studies (MCCS) could be for you.The Master of Contemporary Chinese Studies is a vibrant interdisciplinary program accommodating a wide range of interests. You’ll develop a comprehensive understanding of the people, environment, cultures, society, politics, and economy of contemporary China.You’ll choose subjects from a wide range of disciplines including sociology, political science, international relations, media and cultural studies, law and Chinese language studies.Our flexible and varied course gives students interested in engaging with China in a professional context the opportunity to pursue their passions in business, media, government service, or non-government organisations. You can choose to pursue an internship to gain experience in international organisations, government, business, media or NGOs.With expert tuition from China specialists, this course also serves as an academic bridge if you’re aiming to start a PhD but require further background training or haven’t yet chosen a discipline for doctoral studies.

150 point program:

To be considered for entry into this course, you must have completed an undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in a directly related discipline with a Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of at least 70% (or equivalent).

Disciplines often assessed as directly related to this course include Chinese Studies, Chinese Societies.

100 point program:

To be considered for entry into this course, you must have completed an honours degree (or equivalent) in a directly related discipline with a Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of at least 70% (or equivalent).

English language requirements:

IELTS (academic English Only): 6.5 (no band less than 6.0)
TOEFL Internet-based test: 79 + ; Writing 21; Speaking 18; Reading 13; Listening 13;

Cambridge English: Advanced/ Certificate of Advanced English (CAE): 176 + no skill below 169.
