Our Master of Counselling and Psychotherapy includes theoretical study experientialbased skill development and selfreflective clinical practice in the fields of counselling and psychotherapyThe overall theoretical orientation of this coursework Masters is psychoanalytic and to a lesser extent systemicTo be accepted into this course youll need a threeyear degree from a recognised university in an area such as social work psychology medicine occupational therapy nursing theology or human servicesPreference will be given to applicants with at least two years fulltime or equivalent experience in a formal counselling roleIn the final year of your study you can hone your clinical skills in a yearlong fieldwork placement Alternatively if you have relevant previous experience you can apply to complete a research projectCourse learning outcomesReflect critically and holistically on a complex body of theoretical knowledge research principles and skillsbased practice to demonstrate mastery of counselling professional practiceApply specialist psychodynamic and systemic knowledge creatively to investigate evaluate and synthesize complex counselling frameworks and theories in authentic situationsApply communication and collaboration skills to design innovative contributions to professional practiceUse high level selfmanagement skills to initiate plan and participate in supervised counselling and psychotherapy in professional practice or execute a substantial project
