The Materials Research Group conducts research in the design synthesis microstructure characterisation and properties evaluation of advanced materials for various engineering applicationsThe Group is currently undertaking research in the following key areas of interdisciplinary material research design synthesis and advanced characterisation of materials mechanical behaviour and deformation mechanisms lightweight alloys and their composites functional nanomaterials for water treatment biomaterials and composites and corrosion behaviour The major is designed for students and researchers wishing to pursue research activities in our research group and for industry seeking solutions or collaborations in relevant research areas through Research and Development including 3D Print of metallic materials Biomedical titanium alloys and composites Nanocrystalline lightweight alloys and Nanomaterials for water treatment

All applicants are required to have the equivalent of 6 months full time research (which must involve a research output which includes the conception and design of the project, and analysis and interpretation of findings) if applying with a Masters qualification other than a Master by Research.Academic admission requirements (Band 11) may be satisfied through completion of one of the following:Masters Degree (Research); orBachelor Honours Degree (First or Upper Second class); orDemonstrated capacity to undertake original PhD-level research.English competency requirements:
