The education post baccalaureate is a Bachelor of Education that you can earn only if you have a degree that meets the prerequisites for the program. You can also take the post baccalaureate to teach secondary school if you have Red Seal endorsement in certain trades. The post baccalaureate program consists of upper-level courses that focus on education theory and practice. The program also includes three practicums that allow you to apply what you've learned. In the VIU post baccalaureate education program, you will have three practicum placements as a pre-service teacher. This hands-on experience allows you to practice the skills you learned in the classroom. We do our best to place you in your desired community at the grade level you want to teach. Throughout the program the practicums increase gradually in length and amount of responsibility. Practicum placements allow you to fully experience the role of full-time teaching while still having support. Teaching is a rewarding career with a good salary and benefits. And with BC teaching certification you'll have options. Teachers are in demand in BC, and BC certification transfers to any province in Canada. The BC curriculum is used in many international schools, so teachers trained in BC are also in demand overseas.
