Anthropology is the comprehensive study of human beings, past and present, in comparative, cross-cultural and holistic light, emphasizing the dynamic nature of cultural adaptation and change. Our students and faculty carry out extensive field work in Canada, as well as in many areas of the world, including Latin America and eastern Europe. The graduate program has a focus on medical anthropology and environmental anthropology.Our location and local connections also make us a leader in community-based and collaborative research with Indigenous peoples, with an emphasis on health, governance, land claims, and traditional ecological knowledge.
