This endorsed research degree is completed by a thesis and coursework. It aims to provide a research-focused learning environment in which you can develop your independent problem solving skills through supervised research. The degree may be awarded with Distinction. Study in a number of advanced Engineering courses will provide each student with key technical knowledge to enhance and support their research activities. The Master of Engineering degree is awarded as an endorsed degree in an area of specialisation: Bioengineering Chemical and Process Engineering Civil Engineering Construction Management Earthquake Engineering Electrical and Electronic Engineering Mechanical Engineering Software Engineering Transportation Engineering Fire engineers specialise in the application of science and engineering principles to protect people and their environment from destructive fire. The Master of Engineering in Fire Engineering (research master's) and Master of Fire Engineering Studies (taught master's) are open to graduates from relevant branches of engineering, and covers all aspects of fire safety in buildings and other structures, human safety, and risk assessment. Some courses are offered in blocks and online learning software allows for flexible programmes of study. Students also complete a thesis or project.
