Apa yang akan saya pelajari?

Materials engineering challenges us to discover and design new materials that look in detail at the structure, properties and performance of basic resources that make up the world. Innovations in this space are often at the core of new technologies that change the way we live. The MMaterialsEng offers a balanced understanding of materials design, synthesis and deployment, whilst cultivating management skills. The University wants to catapult your career to the next level by developing your technical and entrepreneurial skillset. Employers are actively recruiting employees with these skills in the manufacturing and energy industries, materials processing and production, as well as new metals deployment. The MMaterialsEng is comprised of a combination of taught courses and a core research course. You can decide between a research project or a research portfolio of independent work. Industry is also looking for candidates willing to develop research projects or research portfolios that draw on Māori and indigenous knowledge, such as novel materials for green energy (eg. New Zealand plant fibres or biomass-derived graphite) or extracting valuable metals from industry waste. Students can choose from the following specialisations: biomaterials engineering, energy and environmental materials, and advanced materials processing.

You must have completed a four-year bachelors degree in engineering at a recognised university (or similar institution) that includes:

Broad coverage in your first year of the foundational science topics that underpin engineering disciplines: mathematical modelling, chemical and materials science, electrical engineering theory, mechanics, programming, and engineering design
One year of postgraduate-level study
A research project or dissertation comprising at least one-quarter of the final year

You will need a GPE of 4.0.

Alternatively, you must have completed one year of postgraduate study, following an undergraduate degree, in a relevant discipline at a recognised university (or similar institution) with a GPE of 4.0.

You must have completed an undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline at a recognised university (or similar institution) with a GPE of 4.0.

Relevant subjects may include applied science, engineering, information technology, science, or technology.
