**Optional year in industry:** The year in industry option will help you gain valuable work experience which will help you enhance your graduate employability prospects. During your placement you develop transferable skills such as communication, negotiation, teamwork, leadership, organisation, problem-solving, being able to work under pressure, self-reliance and commercial awareness. Applicants for CEng registration must also demonstrate the further learning required, this may be through achievement of an accredited masters or doctorate, or other learning including in the workplace.**After the course**: Energy engineers work on projects to reduce energy use or costs. They research, design and build power generation plants, power storage facilities, develop processes to reduce carbon emissions and minimise environmental damage. They also carry out site inspections and energy surveys.
