**Design the future of the built environment through creativity, technology and social responsibility.**The MArch Architecture and Design programme at the University of Strathclyde is a five-year integrated Master's degree that prepares students to become innovative, reflective and socially engaged architects. Located within our Faculty of Engineering, the programme combines architectural design, history and theory, environmental sustainability, technology and professional practice to equip graduates with the knowledge and skills needed to address contemporary challenges facing cities, communities and the planet.Students develop their expertise through design studio projects, live collaborations with industry and community partners, interdisciplinary learning opportunities and engagement with real-world challenges across a range of scales, from buildings to neighbourhoods and urban systems. The programme encourages experimentation, critical thinking and creative problem-solving while fostering a strong understanding of architecture's cultural, social and environmental responsibilities.Building on Strathclyde's tradition as a "Place of Useful Learning", the programme benefits from strong links to architectural practice, engineering and the wider built environment professions. Students work with experienced practitioners and researchers, gaining valuable insight into contemporary design processes, emerging technologies and professional practice.The curriculum is structured to support progressive development from foundational design and technical skills through to complex, research-informed architectural propositions. Opportunities for international study and specialist pathways provide additional flexibility and allow students to tailor their learning to individual interests and career aspirations.Graduates will be well prepared for professional architectural practice, further study and leadership roles within the built environment sector.
