The Ph.D. in Adult Development and Aging is a joint doctoral program offered by The University of Akron and Cleveland State University. As the only program of its kind in Ohio, and one of only a few in the nation, it offers specialized, in-person training in the psychology of aging across the adult lifespan. Through coursework, mentorship, and hands-on lab experiences, students develop expertise in research, teaching, and applied practice. The curriculum spans cognitive and psychosocial functioning, biobehavioral processes, and advanced statistics. Students split coursework between both campuses and benefit from collaborations with medical and research institutions in the Cleveland-Akron area.
