The behavioral science major draws from anthropology, psychology and sociology to give a broad perspective on human behavior.Students will develop the skills necessary to be proficient in the study, research, assessment and evaluation of human behavior from the perspective of all three fields. The major prepares students for employment in social service careers and for graduate study in psychology, sociology, social work and anthropology.Behavioral science at CBU is unique in that caring faculty provide a rigorous study of the human experience from a distinctly Christian worldview. All incoming students are required to complete an internship or a capstone experience. Past students have interned at Big Brothers and Big Sisters of the Inland Empire, Operation SafeHouse and Veterans Affairs. Upon graduation, students will be equipped with the skills necessary for careers or graduate study in a global world.Students graduating with a bachelor’s degree in behavioral science will demonstrate the following:Explain the major historical theories of psychology, anthropology, sociology and their influence on developing theories, the individual and societyUse and apply psychology, anthropology, and sociology concepts to explain personal experiences and recognize the limitations of personal experience in understanding empirical phenomenonThink critically about theory and research in psychology, sociology and anthropology and integrate evidence from diverse worldviews.
