The English Writing, Rhetoric and Technology major asks students to take three courses that introduce them to writing and digital studies, rhetoric and style, and to multi-media writing and digital storytelling one language theory or sociolinguistics course (among three course options) and two advanced topics courses (with a range of options). The remainder of the degree consists of six courses students can choose from a long list, which may include two courses outside the English Writing focus (such as creative writing workshops, film and literature courses, or courses in related majors). Especially designed for future writers, this major offers a wide range of intensive writing experiences, combining such areas as rhetoric, and professional, general, and creative writing. These degree requirements are subject to periodic revision by the academic department, and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences reserves the right to make exceptions and substitutions as judged necessary in individual cases. Therefore, the College strongly urges students to consult regularly with their major advisor and CLAS advisor to confirm the best plans of study before finalizing them.
