Students who complete a Bachelor of Arts in English learn how to use language and writing to transform society through the tools of the 21st century. English majors critically evaluate, interpret, appreciate and create a broad range of print, digital, aural and visual texts. In the Bachelor of Arts in English program, students learn how imaginative texts address cultural concerns and shape the world around them. Students studying literature learn and apply critical terminology, construct arguments about literary texts, and reflect on their own lives and the lives of others. The program culminates in an experiential learning process, with students writing a thesis and presenting their work to an audience of peers and scholars. Our graduates go on to work in a variety of satisfying and challenging careers across various industries, including graduate study, law, teaching, academic advising, and more.
