Bachelor of Arts in Music

Lamar University

The Lamar University Bachelor of Arts in Music offers you a broad-based liberal arts degree through the study of music and an applied instrument, including voice. You'll choose a minor based on your own professional goals. For example, a music major with a business minor might someday own a music retail company, and a music major with an English minor might become a music critic. Alternately, this degree can become a platform into continued graduate study. Your first step is to apply to LU, then to apply for your audition into the program. You will study with renowned faculty who are intensely invested in your success as a musician, academically and professionally. With them, you will study theory, aural training, music literature and history, and studio and ensemble performance. This program allows you to customize your coursework to fit your creative interests and career goals. Depending on your path, you may find opportunities for completing some of your coursework abroad.
