The undergraduate Glass program asks students to commit to the development of one's clear personal vision, a sense of intention, and a basic facility of how to work in glass. In a wide range of material manipulation techniques including glassblowing, kiln casting, flame working, sand casting, and cold working, the students are encouraged to find their voice as an artist by using the best process suited for their concepts. The main philosophical thrust of the undergraduate area of study is to "never underestimate the value of editing!" The students are challenged to be prolific in their experiments, and must learn to be their own harshest critics. The Glass area stresses excellence in the individual strengths of young artists, designers, and craftspeople.
