Economics is home to both Business and Letters and Science degrees in Economics (BBA, BS, or BA) as well as the university’s degree in Business Analytics (BBA). By studying economics, you will learn to think critically and systematically about individual and collective decisions over the use of resources and learn how these choices affect societies. From pollution to poverty to import tariffs, students in economics use intuition, mathematical models, and statistical analysis to evaluate everyday choices made by individuals, firms, and governments. In coursework, students engage in economic modelling and applied research. Students learn to express ideas clearly and learn how to support ideas using data as evidence. The department is unique in the UW system in offering three different advanced research classes in data analysis.
