Physical education teachers help students learn the importance of physical activity and how it contributes to their overall health and wellness. If you love sports, are passionate about health and fitness, and want to work with kids, becoming a K-12 physical education teacher could be a great career choice for you.The BS in Education, with an emphasis in Physical Education, prepares future and practicing teachers with the knowledge and skills necessary to teach physical education in the schools. The program emphasizes the development of professional skills in the teaching/learning processes that lead to the promotion of healthful and physically active lifestyles in children and youth.The College of Education will recommend you to the Missouri Department of Elementary/Secondary Education for teacher certification in Physical Education K-12 at the completion of this program, if you have met all state requirement. Physical education students who have obtained their initial certification can add the health K-12 endorsement by passing the appropriate content area exam.
