As a graduate of this program, you will be prepared to teach in middle or high school. You will develop a combination of teaching skills and expertise in a specific subject such as science, math, English, history or art. This program prepares you with the latest methods, strategies, tools and technologies for teaching sixth- through 12th-grade students. The program offers hands-on classroom experiences, including practica and a semester of student teaching under the guidance of a mentor teacher. Teacher certification, a requirement for teaching in a public school, varies from state to state. Educators prepared at University of Idaho are eligible for three-year interim (non-renewable) certification in any other US state or territory. During those three years, requirements for conversion to a standard (renewable) certification must be met and vary by state.
