Obtaining Lamar University's Bachelor of Science in Nutrition with a concentration in dietetics is the first step to becoming an entry-level registered dietitian nutritionist. In Jan. 2024, the Commission on Dietetic Registration declared that you must have a master's degree or higher to be eligible to sit for the CDR exam to become an RDN. Upon graduation from this program, you will be prepared to take the next step in the RDN process and obtain a master's degree. This program features coursework in general nutrition, medical nutrition therapy, community nutrition, nutrition through the life cycle, nutritional biochemistry, food science and food service management. This program is accredited through ACEND. After successfully completing the IP and passing the registration exam, you will become a registered dietitian nutritionist.
