Overview
The University of Cincinnati Advanced Medical Imaging Technology major is a unique, innovative program that offers you the opportunity to become credentialed in two diagnostic medical imaging modalities, while obtaining a bachelor's degree.
Traditionally, programs specialize in a single diagnostic medical imaging modality and most programs are housed within a certificate or associate degree programs that are 12-24 months in length. The Advanced Medical Imaging Technology program curriculum ensures you are educated in multiple diagnostic medical imaging modalities giving you credentials in both magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and nuclear medicine technology.
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a technique that uses strong magnetic fields and radio waves to generate detailed images of the body.
Nuclear Medicine Technology
Nuclear medicine technology is a type of imaging that uses small amounts of radioactive substances to help creates a precise picture of the part of the body being imaged. Both imaging techniques help diagnosis and detect disease and analyze human anatomy.
Board Examination Eligibility
After completing the program, you will meet national board eligibility requirements in both MRI and nuclear medicine technology and be able to take the licensing examinations. UC student pass rate of nationally administered board examinations dramatically exceed national averages for all modalities.
The clinical or professional portion of the curriculum will allow you to have individualized placements at some of the best medical and imaging facilities in the region. You will also gain research skills that will distinguish you from other credentialed students from associate or certificate programs.
Graduates are in a better position to advance within the profession, accepting positions of greater responsibility, and are prepared for continuing their education with a graduate or professional degree.

First-year or freshman applicants are students who have just graduated high school. They are applying to a university to pursue a 4 or 5-year degree.
English test score requirements: ELS - 112 Graduation; IELTS - 6.0 Overall minimum of 5.5 on each section; PTE - 46; TOEFL - 66 iBT minimum of 15 on each section; Duolingo - 95; Cambridge - 169 minimum, Recommended exam: C1 Advanced.
