The CSULB DPT program is a 3-year curriculum consisting of 9 semesters, including summers, totaling 116 units. Successful completion of all courses, clinical experiences, and the doctoral project prepares graduates to take the licensing examination to be a practicing physical therapist.Only students accepted into the Doctor of Physical Therapy program may register for DPT clinical education courses. Clinical Education includes internships and on-site integrated clinical experiences.By the end of their degree program, graduates shall be able to:Demonstrate comprehension of the foundational, behavioral and clinical sciences for application to the physical therapy clinical setting. Demonstrate the assessment and intervention skills of an entry-level doctoral physical therapist. Adhere to principles of critical thinking and evidence-based practice in clinical decision making. Communicate to a diverse population in a manner consistent with the APTA Core Values and Code of Ethics in professional and clinical settings.Adhere to the ethical and legal standards of physical therapy practice.
