Our Master of Arts (M.A.) in History is tailored toward increasing competence in historical studies for preparatory or supplementary teaching, on both the high school or community college level. It is also appropriate if you are seeking qualification for admission to a doctoral program at another institution or if you are pursuing an advanced-level liberal education for intellectual challenge and personal fulfillment. We offer a thesis and non-thesis track.Our M.A. program is set in the tradition of a Liberal Arts education. Courses offer an opportunity to extend your knowledge and enhance your comprehension of historical studies with Rowan's acclaimed, full-time faculty members.

(Sample may be an undergraduate paper, essay, or analytical book review.)Students without an undergraduate degree in history are required to take HIST 05506, Research and Methods in History, unless they receive an exemption from the graduate advisor based on submitted written work and/or a personal interview. Students are permitted to complete this course within the program.
