Applicants who have graduated from an accredited university or college teacher certification program in another state or country, in the appropriate subject and/or grade range, may also be admitted to the Counselor Education – School Counseling MEd track at the discretion of the program director. The GRE is not required for admission to this program. MEd applicants must be eligible for certification or hold a current Florida Professional Teaching Certificate prior to the start of their first term. All other applicants should apply to the Counselor Education School Counseling MA Track. Three letters of recommendation. Professional Resume The Professional Resume should highlight the applicants counseling-related experiences (as well as other work/volunteer experiences). It is highly suggested that applicants use the Resume Template in the crafting of their document, which would include (and provides examples of) the following: Counseling Related Experiences Other Work Experiences Personal Goal statement The Personal Goal statement indicates how the applicants personal and professional experiences align with their future goals in the Counselor Education Program and their future career as a professional counselor. The Personal Goal Statement should be between 500-700 words, typed using 12-point font in either Times New Roman or Arial, and will be uploaded with the application as either a Word document or a PDF file. Applicants applying to this program who have attended a college/university outside the United States must provide one official transcript and official certification of degree, with date awarded. The College of Community Innovation and Education reserves the right to refuse student entrance or terminate a student after admission to the Counselor Education Program, if in the judgment of the faculty, the student demonstrates unacceptable personal fitness to work in the counseling field with children, youth, and/or adults. A formal interview is required and will be scheduled after the program admission requirements are met. The interview dates are posted on the Counselor Education Program website. Upon admittance, it is required that students attend the program orientation session that occurs on the Thursday before classes begin in the semester to which the student applied.
