The print media and graphic art area is a leader in the field of academic printmaking. Mixed media public artworks installation collaboration and Lake Effect Editions, our professional, in-house publishing entity, contribute to making print media and graphic art well rounded and vibrant.We have an impressive array of new media tools for the printmaker, and we continue to embrace the needs of those wishing to honor the time-tested methodologies of the field. In our state-of-the-art studios we offer courses in lithography, monotype/monoprint, etching, screenprint, relief, papermaking, letterpress, book arts, and digital printmaking. We also present an annual steamroller printing event in the center of Main Campus.Students and faculty take group trips to New York City for such events as the International Fine Print Dealers Association Print Fair, and they also attend the Southern Graphics Council International Conference each year. Many of our graduates move to New York City after earning their degree, where they find jobs and internships in the multitude of print studios, workshops, art foundations, art galleries, and museums that the city has to offer.

You will need to submit one copy of records for all previous post-secondary education. You can do this by contacting the Registrars Office of each higher education institution that you have attended, and asking to have one copy of your transcript(s) sent to Syracuse University. All offers of admission from Syracuse University are conditional, pending the receipt of these official academic credentials. Your academic credentials confirm that you have been awarded a U.S. bachelors degree (or equivalent).
Three letters of recommendation
Academic transcript. Unofficial transcript uploaded to the online application. If you are admitted, an official, degree-bearing transcript must be mailed to the University. Applicants must complete a U.S. bachelors degree (or its equivalent in another country) before starting a graduate program.
Personal statement/essay. Describe in approximately 500 words your main academic interests, why you wish to study for the degree you have chosen, why you wish to study at Syracuse University, how you expect to finance your studies, and your plans after you receive your degree. Upload directly to the online application.
Once you submit your application to the Graduate School, please allow up to 3 business days of processing. Upon completion, you will receive a confirmation email along with instructions on how to access your portfolio portal.
Submit 15-20 items of your artwork. Please submit each piece as an individual attachment/slide to allow the most accessible opportunity for review. Your artist statement should be submitted with your portfolio in the Syracuse University Applicant Portal.
