Music - Composition Concentration, BMus

Western Washington University - International Study Center (StudyGroup)

The focus of the BMus in Composition is the development of creative and practical skills in the creation of concert music, with an emphasis on writing for the performance areas offered within the Music Department. The curriculum includes private composition lessons, courses in music theory, musicianship, musicology, orchestration, and conducting, applied lessons in the student’s performance area, and ensemble performance. Electroacoustic music courses further extend possibilities into new media and technology, and cross-collaboration with dance, visual art, and other fields is encouraged.
