You will develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes required by the teaching profession, as you learn the fundamentals of the national curriculum to fully prepare you for working in primary schools. In addition, you will study early years specifically to develop a deeper knowledge and understanding of pedagogy and practice for teaching younger pupils (3-7 years) and how this relates to the principles of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework and the national curriculum.

As part of the PGCE course you will develop your knowledge and understanding of inclusive practice to meet the needs of all learners. This is achieved through a balance of study related to the knowledge, skills and attitudes required by the teaching profession, the fundamentals of the national curriculum and a dedicated focus on understanding the role of the Early Years/Key Stage 1 teacher.
