Our four-year MPhys Theoretical Physics degree is ideally suited to students wanting to become professional physicists. You will learn how fundamental physics and mathematical techniques are applied to understand advances in quantum information, machine learning, cosmology, semiconductors, lasers, nuclear & particle physics.You will work on a year long advanced MPhys project and learn how to do research at the cutting edge in these fields, under the supervision of internationally recognised theoretical physicists.A flexibly structured degree path means you have the opportunity to study abroad for a year or work in industry for a year, either locally, nationally or overseas.You will study from a selection of modules that could include astronomy and cosmology, nuclear physics, the quantum world and climate physics.Our graduates have become demand forcasters, electromagnetic signature analysts, cost draftsman, patent examiners and software engineers in sectors which include government research, aerospace, defence, energy, engineering and space exploration.
