You’ll build your aesthetic understanding, visual perception and creative problem-solving skills, and develop a professional-level art portfolio.Choose and apply your own artistic tools and technologies, including drawing, illustration, photography and multimedia that allow you to create and share compelling visual messages.Hands-on experienceAs a studio art student, you’ll build skills through hands-on courses in photography, video, drawing, painting, printmaking and sculpture. These are complemented by the study of visual culture, art history and art theory, and culminate in a final exhibition of your artwork.Building communities through artPacific’s Department of Art, Media, Performance and Design promotes interdisciplinary partnerships and collaborations with other majors within the university such as engineering students as well as organizations within Northern California’s arts community to create educational opportunities that help your art reach wider audiences.
